On January 2, 2014, an Obsolete spiritual mentor left our planet too soon: Mike Vraney, founder of Something Weird Video and wrangler of some of the most inspiring lost cult classics of 20th century drive-in auteurs. This month, we pay our humble tribute to Mr. Vraney with a double bill of gems from the Something Weird catalog.
First up: Doris Wishman's sci-fi/nudist saga NUDE ON THE MOON (1961), in which an intrepid pair of scientists whose journey leads them to a thriving female tribe of sensuous moon-bathers. Then, catch a glimpse of youth gone wild in Herschell Gordon Lewis's delirious juvenile delinquent exposé, JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT (1968).
