First up is the infamous, George Lucas-disapproved STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL (1978). This WTF variety show is bonkers at worst and transcendent at best, proven by its left-field guest appearances: Bea Arthur, Art Carney, Jefferson Starship, and Harvey Korman (not to mention the expected Star Wars players). And introducing animated Boba Fett!
We follow with two timeless spoofs, the industrial-powered HARDWARE WARS (1978), featuring a flying waffle maker and a googly-eyed ‘Wookie Monster,’ and Mel Brooks’ infinitely quotable SPACEBALLS (1987). Bill Pullman is Lone Starr, John Candy is Barf, Rick Moranis is Dark Helmet, and Yogurt’s schwartz is bigger than anyone’s!
