First up – Cannon’s scrappy saga of your favorite Boogaloo Crew - aspiring traditional dancer Kelly (leg-warmer queen Lucinda Dickey) & Venice Beach street-dancers Ozone and Turbo (‘Boogaloo Shrimp’ Chambers). Together they have to stop greedy developers from demolishing the community Rec Center (for the kids). Can they do it? As in every BREAKIN’, Ice-T appears.
Then we bring it all back home to the boroughs with KRUSH GROOVE, the loosely fictionalized origin chronicle of Russell Simmons’ Def Jam Records. Blair Underwood steps into Russell’s Adidas as the scrappy entrepreneur who hustles his way to the top after a surprise hit by his pals (Run DMC), all the while wooing Sheila E. Also featuring LL Cool J, Fat Boys and Beastie Boys + Rick Rubin as their bad selves, so yeah.
So get yer crew together, wear yer hat sideways – whatever it takes, as long as you represent in Freddy’s Back Room for this old school throw-down!
